for nine instruments (1997)
Premiere: Aug. 14, 1997 Aspen Music Festival, Aspen Colorado
Performers: Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Wolfram Neubert

"Finnagain Speaking" is based on the layering of transcribed rhythms of human speech. An individual voice, speaking softly, was used as well as the sound of cheering crowds at a sports event.
The piece is the third of a series of pieces inspired by my reading of Joyce's Finnegans Wake, the others being "Joyce Paraphrases for String Quartet and electronics" (1997) and th electroacoustic composition "Variations on a Word" (1997).
